Emma Gray Shepherdess & Ardros Farm
Emma Gray hit the headlines after taking sole tenancy of the 100-acre Fallowlees Farm in Northumberland. Now a decade later her and her husband Ewan are managing a much bigger farming enterprise, together they run 600 crossbred sheep and a herd of native cattle – as well as breeding top quality sheepdogs.
Emma Gray and family recently moved to a new farm in the Isle of Bute
We recently moved from Fallowlees in Northumberland to Ardros Farm in the Isle of Bute with our sheep, cows and dogs. Our time is split between working on the farm looking after our herd of hill cows as well as our flock of commercial cross ewes
We specialise in training and breeding sheepdogs for work and trials.
We take a great pride in marrying together the best bloodlines we can. We also do extensive health testing to ensure the pups we breed are as healthy as they can be. We also run an online training course for everyone via Patreon
Tales from a Shepherdess
Emma penned her first book “One Girl And Her Dogs” in 2012; the story of her journey to Fallowlees Farm and the trials and tribulations of everyday life. In the latest, My Farming Life, she opens up about the past nine years of her life, her heartaches and her joys.

“It is our aim to breed top quality sheepdogs with the emphasis on working ability. We feel the most important attributes to select for are: Heart, Honesty, Bravery and Power. These traits are the life blood of the working collie and can never be sacrificed.”
